The class receives exposure to felony investigations, a tour (and a meal) at the county jail, drug interdiction and types of drugs abused, hands on firearms and explosives demonstration, crime lab tour, search and rescue demonstration, police dog demonstration, simulators, description of our court system and much more!
The academy class does not do pushups or run miles at a time but it does give citizens an overview of the law enforcement role in our area. You must be 18 or older and be able to meet on Wednesday evenings. Class members may range from university students to retired residents. The meetings are held at the Law Enforcement Administrative Facility, LEAF, at 911 East Sawmill Drive.
