Earth Day Celebration

Event Overview

The City of Flagstaff hosts an annual Earth Day Celebration to bring together all members of our community. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for local organizations to show community members ways they can get involved with protecting, conserving, and learning about our shared home. 

Hosted on the Saturday closest to April 22nd , this event is held in a public space wear dozens of community organizations, bands, local food vendors, and local presenters come together to have fun in the sun!

This Year-2023

The City of Flagstaff Sustainability Office invites you to celebrate Earth Day with us on Saturday, April 22nd at Bushmaster Park from 11am-2pm. Check out the rest of this page for more details about volunteer service opportunities, free workshops, bands, and more.

Volunteer Service Projects

Kick-off Earth Day 2023 by giving back to the Earth and the community by volunteering for one of two different opportunities!

Both start at 9 am, one at Bushmaster Park and the other at the Flagstaff Police Department, and all volunteers will receive a light FREE BREAKFAST and be entered into a prize drawing for tickets to the Coconino County Fair and other great prizes! 

Community Clean Up

Celebrate this beautiful place by giving back! This community litter clean-up will focus on the neighborhoods surrounding Bushmaster Park, to show our gratitude for our community members. Arrive by 8:45 am to sign-in, enjoy a free light breakfast, and have an opportunity to be entered into a prize drawing!

Drop-off Day

Help community members put their waste in the right place! The next Drop-off Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 22nd, 2023, from 9am-Noon with prescription drop-off extended until 2pm. Learn more by visiting the Drop Off Day webpage.

This Earth Day, Move Another Way

We encourage everyone attending this event to leave your personal vehicles at home and "Move Another Way". By walking, riding a bike, or taking public transportation you help reduce the impacts on the world around you.

Throughout the day community organizations and groups will be hosting FREE and interactive workshops.

11:30 am--Basic Bike Repair 101

Close up of bicycle wheel being repaired on standDiscover basic bike repair techniques and best practices to keep you riding smoothly! Adam Shimoni has been working on bicycles for over 20 years and is also the owner of a local quality-used bike store, Flagstaff Bikes



12:00 pm--Rainwater Harvesting

1:00 pm--Home Electrification 101 (YES, Cold Weather Heat Pumps WORK!)

Live Music!

Dance in the sun, roll in the grass, or just sit back and enjoy musical performances from three Arizona bands. These groups will help us celebrate in style!

11:00 am--Piso Mojado 

Piso Mojado is an acoustic pop band from Flagstaff! These three best friends are comprised of Cameron Jemson, Jacob Smith, and Ethan Smith. They are bringing new yet familiar feeling music with influences from Ed Sheeran, Jason Mraz, All Time Low, and more!

12:00 pm--ZeeCeeKeely 

ZeeCeeKeely has been winning the hearts and minds of alternative-reggae fans since their inception in 2018. They are the new American Reggae, bringing their own sound and always honoring the past influences. They blend roots, rock, reggae, and dub in a unique way...shaping the sound of tomorrow. 

1:00 pm--Foxy Koshka 

Foxy Koshka is the joyful union of Vincent Z, known for his unique percussive Spanish guitar style, and Annette Morrison laying down the groove on acoustic bass. With mesmerizing vocal harmonies and a warm acoustic sound, they will take you on a journey around the globe with Latin grooves, toe-tappin' Swing, soulful Blues and bilingual ballads. 

Exhibits, Food Trucks, and More!

The annual Earth Day Celebration typically hosts more than 50 local exhibitors, multiple live musical performances, food trucks, and FREE workshops. Below is a brief description of some of the fun-family friendly activities to be a part of.

Climate Action Scavenger Hunt

Kids at the event can participate in a Climate Action scavenger hunt. Pick-up a scavenger hunt card from the Youth Climate Advisory table, find the tables listed on the card, fill in the information required, and return it to where you picked it up. You are now entered into a prize drawing!

E-Bike Demonstration

Discover the electrifying world of E-Bikes at this demonstration hosted by Absolute Bikes! Curious how E-Bikes work? Want to give one a test run? This is a great opportunity to explore your options.
