Maintenance Types / Duties

Facilities staff are responsible for many aspects of building maintenance, which may include:

  • Building Inspections and Assessments
    City buildings are inspected on a regular schedule (yearly, 2-year, or 3-year) based on age, building size, user type, and construction type. Assessment inspections are completed by consultants and facilities staff. The purpose is to get a snapshot of the condition of the building. This information is used to develop repair work orders and to develop the building's Long Range Capital Replacement plan.
  • Carpentry
  • Custodial
    General cleaning, floor buffing and refinishing, specialty cleanings. Note that The City of Flagstaff currently contracts with local custodial vendors.
