Building Codes & Standards

The City of Flagstaff Fire Department regulations are governed by the 2012 International Fire Code as amended by the City of Flagstaff and National Fire Protection Agency Standards. The purpose of this code and standards is to establish the minimum requirements consistent with nationally recognized good practices for providing a reasonable level of life safety and property protection from the hazards of fire, explosion or dangerous conditions in new and existing buildings, structures and premises and to provide safety to fire fighters and emergency responders during emergency operations.

Wildland Fire Management

The City of Flagstaff Wildland Fire Management regulations are governed the 2012 International Fire Code, the 2006 International Wildland Urban Interface Code, the Greater Flagstaff Area Community Wildfire Protection Plan (PDF), City Wide Forest Stewardship Plan (PDF), and the Hazardous Fuels Mitigation Guidelines (PDF). The purpose of these documents is to establish minimum requirements and best management practices to reduce the risk of wildland fire, protect homes and businesses and ensure a healthy and sustainable forest environment.
