Volunteer Opportunities

There are many opportunities to volunteer with the City of Flagstaff and many reasons to volunteer – for specific events, to gain job experience, for academic reasons, and the list goes on.

  • City Boards/Commissions - Take an active role in City government by joining a board, commission, or committee. Members of the City's boards and commissions (and most committees) are appointed to three-year terms by the City Council; unless a different term length is set by law.
  • Code Compliance - Be a Graffiti Buster and help get rid of graffiti within the City.
  • Library - Please call 928-213-2376 to inquire about volunteer opportunities with the City Libraries.
  • Open Spaces - Volunteer at Flagstaff's outdoor recreation areas and hiking trails through the Open Spaces Program
  • Parks, Recreation, Open Space & Events - PROSE is recruiting volunteers for a variety of positions. If you have a particular interest or want to spend time volunteering with your family, contact Community Events at 928-213-2300 to find a position that best fits your needs.
  • Police Department - Please call 928-774-1414  to inquire about volunteer opportunities with the Flagstaff Police Department. Be sure to ask for the Volunteer Program Coordinator.
  • Sustainability - Would you like to help keep Flagstaff clean and beautiful? Keep trails and avenues clean through the Community Stewards Program. Or volunteer at a Garden Work Party from May through October!
  • Water Services - Help create rain barrels to help reduce outdoor water usage for community members. No experience is necessary; we provide instructions and have a variety of tasks for different skill levels. We also offer guidance and ways volunteers can DIY their own rain barrels at home.

Volunteers are very important to us, and we appreciate your interest!
