Climate Change and Renewable Energy Teacher Workshop
This two-day workshop will cover climate change and renewable energy curriculum, hands-on activities, teacher check-out kits, and useful information for teachers wanting to participate in the Flagstaff Youth Climate Summit (including the Climate Action, KidWind, and Solar Structure challenges). Information and activities are geared towards 4th-12th grades.
This workshop is open to teachers, informal educators, youth group leaders, parents etc. It is hosted by Willow Bend Environmental Education Center in collaboration with the City of Flagstaff Sustainability Program and The Arboretum at Flagstaff. Refreshments will be provided on both days. For FUSD teachers, this workshop qualifies for salary enhancement.

Friday, January 25th, 4:30-6:30PM – Climate Change
Do you want to engage your students in climate action? Interested in participating in the Flagstaff Youth Climate Summit or the Climate Action Challenge? Attend this exciting workshop, where City of Flagstaff Sustainability Program staff will walk you through several resources covering the basic science of climate change, local climate change threats, and how you can mentor youth through a climate action project. We will also discuss the 2019 Flagstaff Youth Climate Summit, an opportunity for youth to showcase their Climate Action Challenge projects and compete for the Climate Action Award.
Saturday, January 26th, 9:00AM-3:30PM – Renewable Energy
Kathy Jackson, KidWind and REcharge Labs instructor, along with local renewable energy experts will join us for an engaging renewable energy workshop. This workshop will cover Wind for Schools and solar power curriculum and activities, review teacher check-out kits, and prepare mentors for the KidWind and Solar Structure challenges.
The workshop will also provide information about the 2019 Flagstaff Youth Climate Summit, with a focus on the KidWind and Solar Structure Challenges.
Workshop participants are highly encouraged to attend both days, though this is not required.
