This notice does not mean that the City is increasing primary property taxes to the rate of 0.7476 but that the City Council may discuss a proposed primary property tax levy increase during Council Budget Meetings on the following dates: Thursday and Friday, April 22-23, 2021. These are public meetings. Please refer to the posted Council Budget Retreat Meeting Agendas for further information.
Should the City Council believe it is appropriate to increase the primary property tax levy, the City will post a notice and hold a public hearing pursuant to the “Truth in Taxation” procedures set forth in A.R.S. § 42-17107. The public hearing will be held at the following date and time:
Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 3:00 p.m.
DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, COUNCIL MEETINGS MAY BE HELD VIRTUALLY VIA THE INTERNET, PLEASE REFER TO THE POSTED COUNCIL MEETING AGENDA FOR HOW TO ATTEND THE MEETING AND SUBMIT COMMENTS.
Property taxes must be approved by ordinance on an annual basis. A first reading of an ordinance to approve the primary property tax rate set by Council may occur at a public meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. A final reading of the ordinance may occur on Wednesday, July 6, 2021 at 3:00 p.m.
This notice is being posted so that the City Council has flexibility in deciding the City’s primary property tax levy (revenue to be raised) for the fiscal year (FY) 2021-2022 Budget.
