1. I need Emergency Service access information.

In the event of an emergency, please contact the City of Flagstaff Emergency Services at 911. 

The Streets section works quickly and efficiently to ensure Emergency Services vehicle access. Plows are diverted to applicable areas as necessary. Emergency personnel will contact the Streets section directly if there is an issue with accessibility immediately.

2. I need to report icy conditions near my residence or place of business.

Cinders are applied to major hills, signalized intersections, railroad crossings, shaded areas, problem areas, and stop signed intersections. We limit the use of cinders in residential areas and flat roads. 

Cinders must be reapplied frequently due to traffic pushing the cinders into the snow/ice, crushing or blowing off the roadway.

Please call the Streets section at (928) 213-2175 during normal business hours and provide a detailed account of any concerns. The Streets section may be reached at the aforementioned phone number Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

3. I need to report unsafe, uncleared ice-covered sidewalks.

Please contact Community Code Compliance directly at (928) 213-2104 during normal business hours.

4. I need to report a Winter Parking Ordinance violation.

Please report vehicles near the time of violation (midnight - 7:00 AM) to the non-emergency police number 928-774-1414 so that the Flagstaff Police Department may review the area.

5. I would like additional information about the Snow Berm Relocation Program.

The Flagstaff Parks section currently provides a courtesy service to citizens with a physician documented medical disability or limitation. This service consists of relocation of accumulated snow at the end of driveways after City of Flagstaff Streets section snow plowing operations. Snow operation services are completed in order of priority.

6. I would like to check the current road conditions.

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) provides a service to check the status of road conditions throughout the state on ADOT managed routes. For Traveler Information Service details please go to www.az511.com or call 511 (in Arizona) and 1-888-411-ROAD (7623) (Out of State).

Additionally, The Forest Service provides local road conditions at http://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/coconino/alerts-notices.

7. I would like to check the current weather conditions.

Local weather conditions may be reviewed at https://www.weather.gov/fgz/ from the National Weather Service.

8. I would like to report an area which may require additional plowing or grading near my residence or place of business.

The Flagstaff City Council approved a snow operations policy which sets priorities for plowing as well as some desired time frames. This policy includes a goal to keep first priority streets open at all times.

First priority areas consist of the following:

1. Main Arterials

2. Major Hills

3. Downtown

4. Mountain Line Transit Routes

5. School Bus Routes

All other streets are considered Second Priority Areas.

The policy also sets the following target plowing time frames based on the amount of snowfall received:

During the months of January and February only.

* 0 to 3 inches of snow - First priority areas only

* 3 to 8 inches of snow - Second priority areas completed within 12 hours

* 8 to 12 inches of snow - Second priority areas completed within 18 hours

* Over 12 inches of snow - Second priority areas completed within 36 hours

These targets are from the beginning of the snow season to the end of December and from the end of February to the end of the snow season

* 0 to 4 inches of snow - First priority areas only

* 4 to 8 inches of snow - Second priority areas completed within 12 hours

* 8 to 12 inches of snow - Second priority areas completed within 18 hours

* Over 12 inches of snow - Second priority areas completed within 36 hours

Snow operations crews operate on 12 hour shifts and work around the clock plowing, cindering, and picking up snow during and after a storm.

The timing of snow storms creates many challenges. If we receive snow right before the morning rush hour or the evening rush hour, it is very difficult to keep the first priorities open and passable. Depending upon the amount of accumulation, approximately 4-12 hours is required to plow and cinder the first priority streets one (1) time.

9. I would like to report an area where cinders are collecting in the bike lanes.

To report an area with cinders in bike lanes, please utilize the Citizen Request Tracker, During snow events, the department receives high volumes of phone calls and reports. All reports from citizens will be reviewed and addressed in order of priority as scheduling allows. Please be advised that snow operations crews operate on 12 hour shifts and work around the clock plowing, cindering, and picking up snow during and after a storm.

10. My residential area has not yet received snow plowing and/or other services (trash pick-up, main service, etc.)
